Who is meridas mom
In these woods, Merida stumbles upon what seems a solution, a witch Julie Walters in a cabin, complete with creeping shadows and a glowing cauldron.
This spell comes in the form of a magic cake that Merida takes back to the castle and feeds to her mother. Little does she know that the cake will first make Elinor terribly sick to her tummy and second, turn her into a bear. This story is pretty brilliant. Not only does Merida now launch into a complicated mess of guilt and anxiety about the consequences of her tantrum, but she also faces a bear, bulky and hulking, unable to speak and crashing into bedroom furniture, a bear that is the perfect metaphor for the almost-always-already difficult relationship between a mother and daughter.
Merida and her mother have each learned something valuable, and their adventures together have strengthened their bond. K : Our Directors and creative team drew on their own life experiences when developing Merida and her relationship with her mom.
We had all experienced obstacles during the teen years — discovering who we were, finding our place in the world and communicating with our parents. Many of us are parents now, and we are seeing our own kids go through those transitional years. Teens are not one-note; they have depth and we wanted to create a character that had the spirit, humor, intellect and emotional core of a real teen.
That you think fans especially moms and daughters relate to the most? Merida speaks her truth, even when her point of view is unpopular. She appears in " The Bear King ". When Merida goes to the war front with King Fergus , Elinor makes her husband promise to protect her, and in doing so, he hires Mulan as a tutor. During the battle though, things take a turn for the worse, and Fergus ends up murdered by an unidentifiable knight.
With Merida having been unable to save her father in time, the United Clans turn on her, sending her fleeing. Elinor, meanwhile, is exiled, and the triplet princes are captured.
Merida does eventually prove herself fit to be Queen of DunBroch , when outsmarting the three Lords of the other clans. Settling back into the castle , Merida is soon rejoined by Elinor, and together they mourn Fergus before Merida's coronation.
However, Merida's crowning is interrupted by the kingdom's Witch , who has come for payment for the enchanted helm she forged for Fergus years prior.
With the threat of turning the entire kingdom into bears, Elinor frantically begins searching for the helm, only to be told by Merida she remembers seeing Fergus pack it when heading out to the war front. She believes it's still somewhere by the battleground. Against Elinor's wishes, Merida later makes a deal with Lord Macintosh to turn the crown over to him if he can find the helm by the Witch's deadline, but this does not come to pass. Merida refuses to hand the helm over to the Witch though, for she does not want someone to have such power It was all a test to see if Merida was a true Queen, and she has passed.
Elinor comments that the Witch's deals are never that direct, and from there Merida is crowned Queen.
